Pricing That Fits the Project

Every project is different. Your pricing should be too.

I structure engagements based on your project, not a one-size-fits-all rate.

I believe pricing should reflect the nature of the work, the level of uncertainty, and the value the solution will bring to your business.

There isn't a single “right” way to price every project.

Here are the approaches I commonly use.

Pricing approaches

  • Fixed Price

    Best for well-defined projects.

When the scope and requirements are clear, a fixed price gives you certainty. You'll know the total investment before we begin.

This approach works well for smaller projects or when we're solving a specific, well-understood problem.

  • Hourly

Best for larger or evolving projects.

When requirements will evolve or the best solution will emerge as we build, hourly billing provides the flexibility to adapt.

You pay for the time invested, and we adjust as we learn more.

  • Fixed Price → Hourly

A good way to reduce uncertainty.

We may start with a fixed-price prototype or first phase to validate ideas and reduce risk.

Once we have a clearer picture, we can continue on an hourly basis as the project evolves.

Projects Come in All Sizes

The size of the project isn't what determines whether I'm interested in helping.

A small, clearly defined business problem can be every bit as worthwhile as a larger application that takes months to build.

What matters to me is whether I understand the problem, believe I can solve it, and can provide enough value to justify what you'll spend.

You don't need to know what your project will cost before we talk.

During our free introductory consultation, I'll be candid about whether your goals, budget, and expectations seem realistic.

Small projects are welcome. What matters is having realistic expectations about the cost of professional custom software.

Have a Business Problem You'd Like to Discuss?

You don't need a technical specification or even know exactly what software you need. That's what the first conversation is for.
